About the role
- Perform structural analysis in support of post engine production & service support for MSEN components
- Participate in structural analyses to demonstrate durability and structural integrity of MSEN components
- Use finite element analysis and classical methods to evaluate strength, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance
- Participate as the structure’s representative on multi-discipline integrated product teams to provide design solutions balancing durability, performance, cost, and weight
- Analyze hardware including bearing compartments, gearboxes, lube pumps, oil tanks, tubes, mount brackets, and ducts
- Perform engine test data reduction and provide as needed on-site or remote engine test coverage
- Document analysis results and present conclusions to PW management and external customers
- Work to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods
- Present analysis results to PW leadership and customer representatives
Requirements
- Enrolled in a degree program in Engineering or a related field
- Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
- Prefer: Enrolled in a degree program in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering
- Prefer: At least 60 credits completed towards a college degree by the start of the internship
- Prefer: Experience in Aerospace or with Turbofan Engines
- Experience with Mechanical Engineering Principles
- Experience in structural finite element methods, hand-calculations, and use of ANSYS
- Experience in use of Microsoft Office, SAP, and other business software
- Experience collaborating with a team to develop innovative ideas
- U.S. citizenship is required (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Person, or Immigration Status Requirements)
