About the role
- Serve as a Linux / Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining physical and virtual Linux servers across a large-scale enterprise network
- System hardening, patching, automation with Ansible, provisioning with Kickstart, access control management, lifecycle management with Red Hat Satellite, virtualization with KVM, containerization with Podman or Docker, and hybrid cloud integrations with OpenShift and Kubernetes
- Collaborate with engineers, software developers, systems administrators, storage, networking, and high-performance computing teams to resolve complex infrastructure and integration challenges
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous compliance with regulatory and security frameworks such as DFARS, RMF, and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework
- Provide critical, on-site support for mission systems in a closed DoD area, responding to both planned and emergent tasks, with occasional work outside standard hours and up to 10% travel as required
- Obtain and maintain DoD 8140 / 8570 certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or equivalent) within six months of hire
Requirements
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Must be able to obtain Interim Clearance
- DoD Clearance: Secret
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 3 years of direct experience
- Obtain and maintain DoD 8140 / 8570 certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or equivalent) within six months of hire
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including system installation, administration, patching, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare, ESXi, or similar platforms
- Experience with secure system configurations, system hardening, application settings, and tailoring Linux environments
