About the role
- Acting as a team lead and managing a group of Unix/Linux specialists
- Coordinating and driving Service Improvement initiatives and Change Management processes
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to team members
- Overseeing day-to-day infrastructure operations and ensuring system availability
- Monitoring infrastructure health, conducting availability testing, and generating performance reports
- Managing standard changes, service requests, and documentation
- Participating in on-call rotations and escalation management
- Leading and contributing to technical project work
- Diagnosing and resolving complex system issues
- Planning and executing Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BCP) tests
- Ensuring compliance with SLAs and reporting on server environment metrics
- Coordinating installation planning and execution
- Managing priorities, activity reports, and incident/request/problem follow-ups
- Facilitating integration and coordination with other departments and teams
- Driving proactive evolution and optimization of service delivery methods and tools
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent through professional experience and training
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Unix/Linux infrastructure within mid to large-scale environments
- Proficiency in system administration tasks (LVM, process management, resource allocation, file manipulation)
- Deep understanding of Unix/Linux concepts and architecture
- Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Ansible, Bash, Perl)
- Solid knowledge of networking protocols (HTTP, DNS, NTP, SMTP) and the OSI model
- Experience with tools such as GIT/GitLab, Jenkins, RedHat Satellite, Kickstart
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like Nagios/Icinga2 or similar
- Experience with cluster-based systems and VMware environments
- Knowledge of automated configuration management tools (e.g., CFEngine, Ansible)
- Quick learner with the ability to self-study and adapt to new technologies
- Structured, process-oriented, and capable of maintaining a high-level overview
- Strong time management and independent working skills
- Proven ability to lead and mentor technical teams
- Service-oriented with a proactive attitude and a sense of ownership
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Organized, detail-oriented, and methodical in problem-solving
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English
