About the role

  • Support and drive forward the organisations external communications strategy.
  • Act as the lead media relations liaison for the organisation and help to define our news pipeline.
  • Build relationships with key media and external stakeholders.
  • Work with the Head of PR and Strategic Communications to create and execute external communications strategies and plans.
  • Deputise for the Head of PR and Strategic Communications when required.
  • Lead a team of two PR and Media Managers.
  • Manage the day to day relationship with our PR agency.
  • Develop and maintain effective measurement and KPIs for external communication channels.
  • Work closely with the Senior Internal Communications Manager to identify shared story and content opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technology such as AI and understand its role in communications.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Senior PR/Media Relations Manager or a similar role in a complex organisation.
  • Track record of leading PR and media relations in another large business.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape and significant corporate communications experience.
  • Ability to speak to senior leaders, understand a brief and turn it into a deliverable communications plan or campaign.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the business.
  • Strong project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Degree or professional qualification in journalism or communications or similar levels of equivalent experience.
