About the role
- Serve as a legal advisor to the Human Resources team and business managers on all aspects of the employment lifecycle
- Ensure compliance with all applicable US federal, state, and local employment laws
- Provide practical legal advice and support on Canadian federal and provincial employment standards
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of employment-related agreements
- Investigate and respond to pre-litigation matters
- Manage and partner with outside counsel on employment-related litigation and arbitration matters
- Develop, update, and implement employment policies, procedures, and employee handbooks
- Create and deliver training to HR and managers on key employment law topics
Requirements
- JD from accredited law school
- Admission in good standing to at least one US state bar
- A minimum of 3+ years’ employment law experience, ideally within the pharma or broader life sciences sector
- Expertise in California employment law is essential
- Experience advising on multi-state US employment issues
