About the role

  • Serve as a legal advisor to the Human Resources team and business managers on all aspects of the employment lifecycle
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable US federal, state, and local employment laws
  • Provide practical legal advice and support on Canadian federal and provincial employment standards
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of employment-related agreements
  • Investigate and respond to pre-litigation matters
  • Manage and partner with outside counsel on employment-related litigation and arbitration matters
  • Develop, update, and implement employment policies, procedures, and employee handbooks
  • Create and deliver training to HR and managers on key employment law topics

Requirements

  • JD from accredited law school
  • Admission in good standing to at least one US state bar
  • A minimum of 3+ years’ employment law experience, ideally within the pharma or broader life sciences sector
  • Expertise in California employment law is essential
  • Experience advising on multi-state US employment issues
