About the role

  • Lead regulatory policy on operational resilience, governance, risk management and branch operations
  • Provide trusted advice to senior leaders, the Board, Ministers and Select Committees on complex policy issues
  • Oversee major policy programmes, ensuring robust analysis, consultation and governance
  • Lead senior engagement with industry, government and international regulators
  • Set strategic direction and deliver a business plan aligned to group priorities
  • Build and lead a high-performing, inclusive team, role-modelling RBNZ values
  • Contribute to directorate strategy, cross-Bank initiatives and the embedding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Deputise for senior leaders and contribute as a member of the directorate management team

Requirements

  • Proven senior leadership experience in regulatory policy, financial services, risk, governance or a related field
  • Strong expertise in economic frameworks, public policy making, or prudential regulation, with the ability to lead complex policy design
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and operate effectively in high-profile, high-impact environments
  • Excellent strategic thinking, judgement and problem-solving capability across complex and ambiguous issues
  • Strong people leadership skills with a track record of building inclusive, high-performing teams
  • Knowledge and application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and an appreciation of Te Ao Māori
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of New Zealand National Security Clearance
