About the role
- Perform collections functions and related activities for assigned customer portfolio.
- Contact customers to bring accounts current and complete system tasks within timeframes.
- Reconcile and apply customer payments; monitor delinquent accounts and resolve issues.
- Research billing inquiries and misapplied payments; escalate complex matters.
- Negotiate payment arrangements/settlements and process payments from delinquent customers.
- Engage management/sales to resolve customer issues and outstanding receivables.
- Document actions in system; respond to other departments' requests; initiate write-offs/bad debt recoveries.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- 2 years of collections or relevant experience required.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of collections transactions and processes.
- Ability to contact customers via phone, fax, email or letter and reconcile payments.
- Ability to process write-offs, bad debt recoveries, and credit memos per procedures.
