About the role

  • Review Relay’s marketing content (digital, print, campaigns, and customer communications) against regulatory standards and sponsor bank requirements
  • Identify compliance gaps and provide actionable feedback to the Marketing team to ensure all materials meet bank and regulatory expectations
  • Partner with Legal, Marketing, and Compliance Advisory to build controls that prevent issues at the source
  • Represent Relay to liaise with the sponsor bank compliance team on understanding requirements and help internal stakeholders meet key mandates
  • Execute second-line monitoring and testing across key Risk Operations processes, including onboarding, KYC/KYB, and transaction monitoring
  • Develop and maintain oversight testing plans, track progress, and communicate results with relevant stakeholders
  • Prepare management reporting on findings, escalate significant issues, and support remediation of identified gaps
  • Recommend enhancements to compliance and operational processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead or contribute as a stakeholder to strategic compliance initiatives, including new product development, new business initiatives, and major risk projects
  • Provide subject matter expertise to ensure compliance is embedded in operational and product design
  • Support the execution of risk and compliance transformation initiatives within the Risk Ops team
  • Act as a key liaison with Internal Audit, sponsor bank, and regulatory agencies, including coordinating responses to information requests, managing remediation commitments, and addressing findings
  • Promote a proactive compliance culture by providing guidance and training to business partners
  • Serve as the compliance lead for external audits, bank-mandated reviews, and remediation projects
  • Coordinate documentation, responses, and evidence gathering across teams to ensure timely and thorough completion
  • Track remediation commitments and ensure sustainable improvements are implemented

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in compliance, risk management, or audit within financial services, fintech, or banking
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements applicable to marketing, customer onboarding, AML/CTF, and transaction monitoring
  • Experienced with compliance testing, monitoring frameworks, and audit support
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities at once
  • Strong written and verbal communicator, with the ability to present findings and recommendations clearly
  • Proven track record of building partnerships across Compliance, Legal, Operations, and business functions
  • Bonus Points:
  • Familiarity with fintech business models and sponsor bank relationships.
  • Direct experience interacting with regulators, auditors, or bank partners.
  • Knowledge of regulatory expectations around marketing compliance, FDIC insurance disclosures, and pass-through deposit insurance requirements.
