About the role
- Lead and manage the month-end close process, including preparation and review of journal entries
- Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and GAAP compliance
- Manage, mentor and develop accounting staff, including performance management and professional development
- Provide oversight of the Accounts Payable function through the AP Manager, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments
- Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items and investigating variances
- Ensure adherence to and continuous improvement of internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Partner cross-functionally to support financial accuracy and operational efficiency
- Oversee sales tax filings and ensure compliance with reporting requirements
- Assist with audits and coordinate preparation and review of required documentation
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness
- Support ad hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of accrual-based accounting, month-end close, and accounts payable
- Deep understanding of general ledger accounting (GAAP)
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams
- Strong experience reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and financial data
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite strongly preferred)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate financial information clearly
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 10–15 years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience owning or leading month-end close processes
