About the role
- Provide solicitor services to the organization, including senior management of People and Culture
- Provide barrister services or will be involved in labour and employment litigation matters such as labour arbitration
- Provide labour and employment legal counselling services on significant issues
- Participate in task forces or in ongoing or special project committees
- Provide advice and recommendations to senior company executives
- Promote the use of corporate Law Department services
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years labour relations and employment law experience, acquired in either private practice or in-house
- Member of the Ontario Bar
- Highly developed skills in negotiating complex agreements
- Ability to defend principled positions
- Superior oral and written communication and public-speaking skills
- Knowledge and experience in federal labor and employment law (an asset)
- Ability to deal effectively with clients, outside counsel, and Law Department colleagues
- Solid command of English. Knowledge of French (an asset)
