About the role

  • Provide solicitor services to the organization, including senior management of People and Culture
  • Provide barrister services or will be involved in labour and employment litigation matters such as labour arbitration
  • Provide labour and employment legal counselling services on significant issues
  • Participate in task forces or in ongoing or special project committees
  • Provide advice and recommendations to senior company executives
  • Promote the use of corporate Law Department services

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years labour relations and employment law experience, acquired in either private practice or in-house
  • Member of the Ontario Bar
  • Highly developed skills in negotiating complex agreements
  • Ability to defend principled positions
  • Superior oral and written communication and public-speaking skills
  • Knowledge and experience in federal labor and employment law (an asset)
  • Ability to deal effectively with clients, outside counsel, and Law Department colleagues
  • Solid command of English. Knowledge of French (an asset)
