About the role
- Provide technical capabilities for testing relays, circuit breakers, transformers, motor control equipment, and related switchgear in the field
- Completing mechanical work and repairs on breakers and switches, including tear down, refurbishment and parts replacement
- Serve as a technical leader in testing/maintenance/repair of breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control and associated equipment
- Provides proper preparation and documentation for site projects
- Wiring circuit breakers
- Utilizing and accurately reading test equipment
- Reading schematics and wiring drawings
- Troubleshooting circuit breaker controls
- Reading and plotting time-current curves
- Testing transformers, including Power Factor and TTR
- Accurately and consistently documenting using Power DB
- Provide instruction and mentorship in training for junior level technicians
- Able to work with electrical tools and socket sets
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Switchgear/High Voltage Technician
- Proficiency with high voltage test equipment as well as knowledge of low and medium voltage test equipment
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plain and solid geometry and trigonometry
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions of practical situations
- Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English
- Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors
- Valid Driver’s license and good driving record
- Certifications & Licenses: NETA 2 preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (inclusive of reading and writing) due to the nature of safety-related materials, documentation, and interactions with clients.
