About the role

  • Provide technical capabilities for testing relays, circuit breakers, transformers, motor control equipment, and related switchgear in the field
  • Completing mechanical work and repairs on breakers and switches, including tear down, refurbishment and parts replacement
  • Serve as a technical leader in testing/maintenance/repair of breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control and associated equipment
  • Provides proper preparation and documentation for site projects
  • Wiring circuit breakers
  • Utilizing and accurately reading test equipment
  • Reading schematics and wiring drawings
  • Troubleshooting circuit breaker controls
  • Reading and plotting time-current curves
  • Testing transformers, including Power Factor and TTR
  • Accurately and consistently documenting using Power DB
  • Provide instruction and mentorship in training for junior level technicians
  • Able to work with electrical tools and socket sets

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Switchgear/High Voltage Technician
  • Proficiency with high voltage test equipment as well as knowledge of low and medium voltage test equipment
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plain and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions of practical situations
  • Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English
  • Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors
  • Valid Driver’s license and good driving record
  • Certifications & Licenses: NETA 2 preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (inclusive of reading and writing) due to the nature of safety-related materials, documentation, and interactions with clients.
