About the role
- Act as the primary payments SME for treasury engagements, advising on products, workflows, and operations
- Analyze and optimize end-to-end payment lifecycles, from initiation through settlement and reporting
- Evaluate payables, receivables, and liquidity workflows to identify modernization opportunities
- Develop client-ready payment solutions across ACH, wires, RTP®, FedNow®, and integrated payables/receivables
- Deliver insights using payment metrics (SLAs, failure rates, processing trends)
- Advise on emerging trends such as real-time payments, open banking, and embedded finance
- Design and validate end-to-end payment architectures across banking platforms and ecosystems
- Collaborate with technology teams to define:
- - Data flows, APIs, and system integrations
- - Message mapping (ISO 20022, SWIFT MT/MX, NACHA)
- Lead integration strategies across:
- - Core banking platforms
- - ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday, etc.)
- - Payment networks and external partners
- Support development of payment orchestration solutions (routing, validation, enrichment, exception handling)
- Drive API-led and file-based connectivity (Host-to-Host, SFTP, SWIFT FileAct)
- Contribute to modern, cloud-native payment architectures and microservices-based platforms
- Serve as the bridge between business, operations, and technology teams
- Partner with product, treasury, compliance, and client teams to align solutions with business goals
- Support client advisory, presentations, and solution workshops with corporate treasury stakeholders
- Contribute to RFPs, proposals, and go-to-market initiatives
- Provide thought leadership via whitepapers, training, and industry insights
- Mentor junior team members and support agile delivery practices
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, and scalability across payment operations
- Build business cases and ROI models for transformation initiatives
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies:
- - Real-time payment analytics
- - AI/ML-driven fraud detection
- - Optimize payment orchestration flows to improve performance and reduce errors
- - Establish SOPs, playbooks, and best practices for operational excellence
- Provide expert support for complex payment issues and escalations
- Investigate failures across payment rails (ACH, wires, SWIFT, RTP, FedNow)
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive solutions
- Support audits and compliance with proper documentation and controls
- Monitor transaction health, SLAs, and system performance metrics
Requirements
- 10–15+ years of experience in Treasury Management, Payments, or Cash Management
- Experience working for a consulting services company is required.
- Prior payments consulting, solution architecture, or pre-sales experience within banking, fintech, or financial services.
- Strong understanding of treasury management products including liquidity management, Controlled disbursement, lockbox, integrated receivables, Positive Pay, and fraud mitigation tools.
- Proven client-facing consultative skills with ability to translate complex payment technology into business-relevant recommendations and treasury executives.
- Master’s degree (MBA or Finance/Technology-related field) preferred
