Transmission System Planning Engineer I

• Troubleshoot operational issues related to generator control systems, instrumentation, PLCs, DCSs, and various power generation equipment.
• Propose recommendations for control system upgrades, component replacements and design improvements.
• Manage projects from inception to project close-out including: create the project scope, budget and schedule support construction and installation phases lead commissioning and initial start-up ensure successful implementation and accurate documentation.
• Prepare specifications and request-for-proposals as well as evaluate proposals from vendors.
• Evaluate the condition of critical electrical components; specify new and replacement components as required.
• Design and/or modify HMIs, PLC, DCS and Turbine Control System logic using various programming methods, including ladder logic, structured text and function block “languages”.
• Design instrumentation and actuator systems, including creating or modifying P&IDs, loop drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.

• Develops strategies and pilot project plans for presentation to senior management on emerging grid technology
• Collaboratively builds and maintains strong relationships with internal departments and external stakeholder groups related to grid modernization.

Principal Engineer – Grid Modernization

• Assist senior staff in the development and running of econometric and statistical forecasting models and analytical frameworks
• Assist with development and maintenance of input and output databases necessary to perform long-term load forecasting analyses
• Extract data from various internal and external systems
• Develop code to conduct exploratory analysis, cleanse/massage, or aggregate data, and to automate work processes at the direction of senior staff
• Create data visualizations to derive meaningful insights
• Regularly run reports of forecast versus actuals and to track other intelligence

• Responsible for supporting the multi-site, high availability Gas SCADA system.
• Assist in support and troubleshooting the operational SCADA environment as well as insuring optimized monitoring and reporting for solid system reliability.

• Responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, development, and support of a mission critical, high availability IT monitoring and control system (SCADA).

• Provides timely and relevant metrics and analysis for key departmental, operational, and financial processes.
• Works closely with other department analysts preparing operational schedules, forecasts, budget and staffing plans, and departmental dashboards.
• Performs analysis and provides recommendations involving complex business issues.
• Leads and manages internal and external project teams on various process improvement initiatives and customer service projects.
• Routinely applies process improvement methodologies to business processes and procedures.
