• Lead by doing: Roll your sleeves up and build alongside the team, know the ins and outs of the product.
• Own the roadmap: Partner with Product and Design to prioritize the right features—balancing usability, scalability, and measurable real-world impact.
• Build for scale & trust: Ensure the platform is secure, composable, and capable of supporting governments and utilities nationwide.
• Elevate the resident experience: Deliver features that make it easier for families to stay on track—like flexible installments, smart reminders, and personalized plans.
• Stay hands-on: Dive into technical details when needed, from debugging production issues to optimizing system performance.

Frontend Engineer

• Build with impact: Design and deliver scalable, reusable frontend systems and components that power critical financial workflows used by thousands of families each month.
• Craft exceptional experiences: Collaborate closely with product and design to create intuitive, accessible, and high-performing web applications that guide users through complex payment and relief flows with clarity and empathy.
• Bridge frontend and backend: Partner with backend engineers to define and evolve APIs, contribute to service design when needed, and ensure data flows cleanly from distributed systems to user interfaces.
• Architect for scale: Help shape our frontend architecture, state management patterns, orchestration layers, and shared component libraries as we grow.
• Raise the bar: Write clean, maintainable, production-ready code. Identify and resolve performance issues, edge cases, and UX friction points to maintain a high quality bar.
• Lead and mentor: Support and mentor engineers, contribute to thoughtful code reviews, and help cultivate a culture of ownership, curiosity, and engineering excellence.

Product Engineer – Frontend

Security Engineer

• Build and run detection: write, tune, and respond to Python-based rules to catch anomalous activity and improve signal-to-noise.
• Partner with our Infrastructure team to secure GCP + cloud networking and improve Kubernetes security.
• Strengthen application security and help make pragmatic upgrades (e.g., Next.js, dependencies).
• Improve security through code + automation (guardrails, checks, remediation workflows).
• Own vulnerability management end-to-end: identify, prioritize, and drive fixes to closure in coordination with codeowners.
• Help build a strong security culture through clear guidance, training, and partnership with engineers.
• Develop technical and policy frameworks to guide ambitious and safe AI adoption company-wide.
• Collaborate closely with engineering on secure product design and technical implementation.

Founding Security Engineer

Engineer

• Be the bridge: Work directly with utilities and government agencies to integrate Promise’s payment and relief products into their existing systems.
• Problem-solve in the wild: Dive into customer environments, untangling complexity and crafting creative technical solutions that actually work in the real world.
• Level up the product: Improve Promise’s products -- you will have the first hand context of what works and doesn't, if you see something to build, build it!
• Travel occasionally (up to 40% of the time): Join customers on-site to make sure things run smoothly and strengthen our relationships in person.

Forward Deployed Engineer

• Train, fine-tune, and evaluate ML models and LLMs for real-world government use cases.
• Tackle challenges like OCR, document parsing, and classification to streamline services.
• Source, adapt, and operationalize models from both open-source and vendor ecosystems.
