About the role
- Oversee the design and execution of all battery specific infrastructure construction in the facility construction project.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to ensure that clean & dry room requirements are met within project timelines and budgets.
- Manage the BSI aspects of industrial facility projects from design through construction and handover stages.
- Work closely with the BSI Manager and other department heads to align architectural designs with the overall construction and operational goals.
- Coordinate with external contractors, design consultants, and vendors to ensure that BSI work complies with building codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Act as the main point of contact for all BSI components during construction phases, ensuring integration with structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Ensure that all architectural works comply with safety regulations, building codes, and sustainability standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the quality of work and adherence to the design specifications.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to architectural design and construction.
- Develop and manage budgets related to battery specific infrastructure construction elements, ensuring efficient use of resources and materials.
- Oversee procurement of materials and liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality control.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to architectural designs, changes, and project progress.
- Provide regular updates to the BSI Manager on project status, risks, and issues.
- Communicating effectively with internal and external construction team members.
- Interpreting project documents to determine requirements and necessary paths of action.
- Performing quality control/quality assurance in areas related to construction and design.
- Submitting reports on execution project status.
- Monitoring and reporting on compliance in all aspects of the project.
- Representing technical topics to the project team.
- Reviewing engineering deliverables and initiating appropriate corrective actions.
- Preparing site reports and completing other site documentation.
- Developing labour and material cost estimates.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or some other construction-related field of study, or equivalent.
- P.Eng. or P.E. preferred but not required
- 10+ years working in the construction industry (i.e., engineering-, architecture-, or construction-related, or equivalent), preferably with execution of industrial facilities.
- Experience working specifically on large projects.
- Experience being responsible for technical aspects of a construction project related to Civil Engineering, including but not limited to: Earthwork, Foundations, Buried Pipe
- Experience working within large, complex project teams and actively participating in construction meetings.
- Experience working on Design-Build projects
- Can read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
- Understands the nuances of the design and construction process.
- Able to work safely on an active construction site in accordance with the Health & Safety Plan.
- Able to predict potential problems and solve them using logical approaches and analytical thinking.
- Can collaborate effectively with team members and organize activities that delegate work efficiently.
- Can communicate in a professional manner with engineers, architects, and construction managers both verbally and in writing.
- Has high degrees of team orientation and social competence.
- Detail oriented and will diligently ensure that components of the project meet the overall goal.
- Proficient in construction scheduling, workflows, and quality control/quality assurance.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, budget oversight, and risk management.
- Desirable proficiency in design and project management software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and MS Project.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving design and construction challenges.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
