About the role
- Lead an outstanding accounting team: supervise, train, coach, and develop direct reports (Accounting Analysts).
- Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including revenue, accounts receivable (billing and collections), amounts receivable from payment processors, partner remittances and payouts, reconciliations, and the general ledger.
- Manage the internal month-end financial close process, including all control procedures and general ledger account reconciliations for SBU revenues.
- Lead efforts to improve the month-end close by creating efficiency gains and reducing timelines through automation and other initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist with the implementation of SOX controls and processes. Identify risks and ensure appropriate controls are in place to mitigate them.
- Perform and review variance analyses on key revenue and balance sheet accounts.
- Collaborate with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team on actuals versus forecasts and help identify and resolve any discrepancies.
- Work with the Partner Success team to ensure partner inquiries and requests receive timely responses.
- Review and provide feedback on partner contracts.
- Support financial close procedures at month-, quarter-, and year-end, including assistance during audits.
- Raise accounting issues related to IFRS and assist in resolving them; help accounting leads strengthen accounting policies and streamline the internal control environment.
- Work on special projects based on department and business unit needs, including system implementations, upgrades, and other ad hoc requests.
Requirements
- Accounting designation: CPA preferred (minimum 2 years post-qualification experience)
- Knowledge of IFRS and experience in public company accounting/audit (an asset)
- Strong leadership skills with at least 2 years of management experience directly focused on developing, coaching, and mentoring a team
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Excel modeling at an advanced level
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to motivate a team through change and during high-pressure periods with tight deadlines
- Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, flat organization — a good cultural fit for Plusgrade
- Experience in the technology sector (an asset, but not required)
- Familiarity with NetSuite (an asset)
