About the role
- Provide overall support to Accounting Department with traditional fundamentals accounting practices
- Participate in the compliance and assessment of accounting policies, practices and procedures with the ability to influence effective practices
- New project set up by reviewing contracts and verifying compliance with written documents (Fixed Price and/or T&M)
- Prepares GL entries
- Prepares monthly bank reconcilements utilizing accounting software
- Prepares monthly fixed asset reconciliation
- Comfortable managing timekeeping entries, collaborating with staff to prepare for monthly activities
- Provides timely, accurate information and meaningful variance analysis
- Prepares and reviews account reconciliations and analysis on a monthly or quarterly basis to insure accurate financial reporting.
- Contributes to monthly billing as need to meet department SLA’s.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Staff Accountant with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles in a corporate environment
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Previous experience with accounting software systems
- Experience assessing and delivering variance analysis to an executive level
- A Team Player who has the willingness and ability to participate in monthly reconciliation process as needed
- Previous experience reviewing Accounting processes and making recommendations for improvements as appropriate
- Ability to work on-site in Gaithersburg 3-days per week
