About the role

  • Ensuring the safe operation of the Terminal site, including without limitation the suspension or cessation of activities
  • HSEQ compliance and responsibility for the health and safety of all personnel using, working within and visiting the Terminal site and ensuring compliance with all applicable HSE Legislation
  • Protecting the environment in and around the Terminal site and any acts (or omissions) by personnel using, working within and visiting which may impact therein
  • Managing the actions required and specified under the Control of Major Accident Hazard Regulations 1999 for 1 x Top Tier site
  • Liaising directly with local authority emergency planners, emergency services and health authorities in the development, publication and testing of off-site emergency plans for use in the event of a major incident
  • Recruiting, appointing, managing, motivating, appraising and determining the remuneration of staff
  • Developing and implementing procedures and work instructions to ensure that all operations and maintenance functions are carried out within the guidelines set by ISO45001, OHSAS 18001, COMAH and any other applicable Terminal policies
  • Reporting directly to senior management on all operational and financial matters and managing the Terminal in accordance with required operating requirements

Requirements

  • Demonstrable Leadership skills in circumstances with remote guidance or supervision
  • Health, Safety & Environmental management skills including experience of working with the Competent Authorities
  • Operational Management experience working in a top tier COMAH site and/or critical national infrastructure
  • Strong IT competence, with Cyber security and process control knowledge an advantage
  • Finance/accounting skills with previous multi-million pound budget-holder experience
  • HR and Employment law knowledge
  • Procurement knowledge with contract negotiation & amendment skills
