About the role

  • Be a true generalist — advise across a variety of legal areas, with a primary focus on employment and global privacy, while supporting other matters as needed.
  • Partner closely with the People team on global employment matters across multiple jurisdictions, including hiring, onboarding, employee relations, terminations, and investigations.
  • Develop, refine, and maintain employment policies, handbooks, and compliance frameworks that align with local laws and Pendo’s culture.
  • Monitor employment law developments and provide practical, risk-based guidance to business leaders.
  • Support the design and implementation of scalable global employment practices that enable consistent, compliant operations worldwide.
  • Advise on international privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, UK GDPR, Japan APPI, Australian Privacy Act, CCPA/CPRA, and other global frameworks, with particular focus on employee and HR data privacy.
  • Provide clear, actionable guidance on international privacy compliance, data handling, and risk management.
  • Partner with Product & Privacy Counsel to ensure alignment between employee privacy practices and product-related privacy frameworks.
  • Advise on corporate governance, subsidiary management, and strategic transactions, including due diligence and integration efforts.
  • Support compliance programs related to Pendo’s Code of Conduct, ESG, Whistleblower, and Anti-Corruption initiatives.
  • Pitch in on projects and revenue contracts across commercial and product areas when time permits and where your expertise adds value.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to teams across Pendo, translating complex legal concepts into practical guidance.

Requirements

  • JD and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 8-10 years of employment and diverse legal counseling experience, including time in-house at a fast-growing, venture-backed technology or SaaS company.
  • Strong background in global employment and privacy/data protection, with comfort navigating international regulations.
  • Experience building corporate compliance programs from the ground up and managing maturation of such programs (e.g., Code of Conduct, ESG, Whistleblower, or Anti-Corruption).
  • Exposure to corporate governance, M&A, or product and commercial transactions is a plus.
  • Enjoys working in ambiguity and is a quick study, able to tackle problems of first impression with curiosity and sound business judgment.
  • A collaborative, low-ego approach and a sense of humor.
  • Strong curiosity and business acumen, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical, business-oriented solutions.
  • A practical, business-oriented mindset and the ability to operate autonomously in a dynamic environment.
