About the role
- Drive strategic growth by identifying, developing and securing high-value partnerships with industry and research organisations.
- Shape the evolution of our products by working closely with Product, Science, Access, Data, Legal and Delivery teams.

- Strengthen our commercial approach by embedding structured, scalable business development practices.
- Support long-term sustainability by balancing revenue growth with public trust, participant experience and governance standards.
- Own and grow the pipeline: Build, manage and convert a strong customer pipeline aligned to business objectives.
- Lead strategic partnerships: Identify, develop and secure high-value, complex deals with industry and research partners.
- Drive forecasting and planning: Maintain accurate pipeline reporting and contribute to revenue planning and strategic decisions.
- Shape and close deals end-to-end: Develop account strategies, craft value propositions, structure commercial models, and lead negotiations through to contract execution.
- Collaborate across teams: Work closely with Revenue Operations, Lead Generation, and Pricing & Proposals to ensure strong pipeline health and delivery.
- Evolve the product offering: Partner with cross-functional teams to refine the recontact product based on customer insight, feasibility and regulatory requirements.
- Translate science into strategy: Help develop compelling proposals and materials that clearly articulate our unique value.
- Bring market insight: Monitor trends, competitor activity and research needs to inform pricing, positioning and long-term strategy.
- Enable alignment and delivery: Act as a bridge between external partners and internal stakeholders to ensure feasibility, compliance and successful delivery.
- Uphold governance and ethics: Ensure all commercial activity aligns with our charity mission, ethical standards and regulatory requirements.
- Lead through influence: Support and mentor colleagues, sharing best practice in complex deal-making across the commercial function.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, high-value business development initiatives within life sciences, health research, biotech, pharma, or data-driven environments.
- Proven ability to structure and negotiate sophisticated commercial agreements involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Legal, Data, and Scientific teams to shape offerings in regulated environments.
- Ability to operate effectively within governance-driven organisations where ethics, compliance, and public trust are central.
- Strong commercial acumen, including pricing strategy, financial modelling input, pipeline management and revenue forecasting.
- Significant experience operating in complex, evolving, or mission-led organisations requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- Capable of working in a fast paced “startup” style environment.
