About the role

  • Develop policy and manage relationships with national security and law enforcement stakeholders across the U.S. government
  • Collaborate closely with the Global Affairs team and other parts of the company (legal, safety, communications)
  • Communicate with U.S. government representatives and represent OpenAI at convenings and events
  • Develop and implement engagement strategies on pressing policy issues
  • Prepare company leaders to represent OpenAI at events
  • Coordinate and facilitate complex collaborative projects among many stakeholders
  • Execute rapid cycles of analysis, decision, and action in a fast-changing environment
  • May require frequent travel to meet with key stakeholders; relocation assistance offered

Requirements

  • Experience building and cultivating relationships with national security stakeholders
  • Established network and credibility with national security stakeholders
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of federal government rules, institutions and processes, and of the key policy issues and debates related to AI
  • Understanding of how technology-related policy gets made
  • Experience working in government (highly desirable)
  • Understanding technology-related regulation (highly desirable)
  • Technical skills relating to generative AI models (highly desirable)
  • Proven skills coordinating and facilitating multi-stakeholder collaboration
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Sound judgment and outstanding personal integrity
  • Track record of effectively working with cross-functional teams and aligning diverse internal and external partners
  • Willingness to travel frequently to meet key stakeholders
  • Ability to move fast and collaborate on complex issues in a changing environment
  • Ability to work from US office three days per week
