About the role

Develop policy and manage relationships with national security and law enforcement stakeholders across the U.S. government
Collaborate closely with the Global Affairs team and other parts of the company (legal, safety, communications)
Communicate with U.S. government representatives and represent OpenAI at convenings and events
Develop and implement engagement strategies on pressing policy issues
Prepare company leaders to represent OpenAI at events
Coordinate and facilitate complex collaborative projects among many stakeholders
Execute rapid cycles of analysis, decision, and action in a fast-changing environment
May require frequent travel to meet with key stakeholders; relocation assistance offered

Experience building and cultivating relationships with national security stakeholders
Established network and credibility with national security stakeholders
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of federal government rules, institutions and processes, and of the key policy issues and debates related to AI
Understanding of how technology-related policy gets made
Experience working in government (highly desirable)
Understanding technology-related regulation (highly desirable)
Technical skills relating to generative AI models (highly desirable)
Proven skills coordinating and facilitating multi-stakeholder collaboration
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills
Sound judgment and outstanding personal integrity
Track record of effectively working with cross-functional teams and aligning diverse internal and external partners
Willingness to travel frequently to meet key stakeholders
Ability to move fast and collaborate on complex issues in a changing environment
Ability to work from US office three days per week
