About the role
- Market Expansion & Account Penetration
- Identify, target, and secure new pharma and biotech accounts using existing relationships and strategic outreach.
- Map organizations to identify key decision-makers and influencers across R&D, translational sciences, and QC groups.
- Develop account entry strategies tailored to scientific workflows and organizational structures.
- Understand customer research pipelines across discovery, target validation, preclinical development, and QC/assay workflows to position ONI’s technology effectively.
- Coordinate scientific and workflow-specific conversations with scientists, group leaders, directors, and platform owners together with ONI’s VP of Strategy.
- Partner with technical specialists and application scientists to design demos, pilots, and evaluation studies that showcase direct value and ROI.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with stakeholders such as: bench scientists & research associates, group leaders and lab managers, principal scientists & directors, heads of R&D, platform teams, and translational programs.
- Act as a trusted advisor by understanding their challenges, priorities, and strategic initiatives.
- Track pipeline progress, forecast revenue, and collaborate with marketing and product teams to refine go-to-market strategies.
- Work closely with Product, Marketing, Applications, and Customer Success teams to ensure customer needs are clearly communicated and addressed.
- Provide feedback on market trends, unmet needs, and competitive positioning.
Requirements
- 5+ years of business development, sales, or strategic partnerships experience in pharma, biotech, life sciences tools, or related fields.
- Established network within drug discovery or preclinical research ecosystems.
- Strong understanding of scientific workflows, particularly in areas such as molecular/cellular biology, imaging, assay development, and QC.
- Proven track record of breaking into new accounts and driving revenue growth.
- Excellent communication skills, especially with technical and scientific personas.
- Ability to travel to customer sites, conferences, and partner visits.
- Advanced scientific degree (MS or PhD) in biology, bioengineering, biophysics, or a related field (desired but not essential).
- Experience positioning complex instrumentation, reagents, or platforms into pharmaceutical R&D workflows (desired but not essential).
- Familiarity with long-cycle enterprise sales processes (desired but not essential).
- Experience collaborating with applications scientists or technical field teams (desired but not essential).
