About the role
- Provide support of client’s Resource Uses, Decisions, and Description (RUDD) Program using internal BLM AI to create a Small Language Model to process multiple Land Use Planning documents
- Identify land use plan decisions and create a “Current Land Use Plans Decisions” product that will align with the current RUDD template
- Produce metadata, reports, data, code, scripts, system documentation, or other related items to support the task as requested
- Work directly with the federal government client at the Federal Center in Lakewood, Colorado (work from home considered)
- Apply AI tools and produce Small Language Model and documentation support
- Collaborate with team members across NV5 Geospatial and client stakeholders to deliver project outputs
- Occasional travel and on-site visits (<10%) as required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field
- Must have a minimum of two (2) years of application development experience
- Experience Using AI and Small Language Models
- Experience managing and presenting metadata data using any of the following: Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), ESRI ArcMap Metadata Editor, ESRI Arc Pro BLM Metadata Tool, Extensible Markup Language (XML), Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), NotePad ++, Portable Document Format (PDF), R programming language, XML Notepad
- Experience with mobile data collection and management applications especially involving offline/disconnected workflows
- Experience with programming/scripting languages such as R, Python, VBA, VB.Net, or others
- Experience using, developing, or maintaining scripts, tools, or dashboards for managing data and metadata, providing access to data, or identifying and resolving data and metadata issues
- Written technical documentation such as training materials, user documentation, workflow diagrams, standard operating procedures, metadata, etc.
- Experience with metadata standards such as FGDC Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM), ISO 19115, Exchangeable Image File format (Exif)
- Experience with metadata methods and procedures including metadata inspection, automating metadata quality checks, transforming metadata, and publishing metadata
- Experience with customer support including delivering highly technical content to non-technical audiences
- Will need to provide examples of workflow or guidance documentation developed and examples of technical trainings presented
- Candidates must be eligible for federal security clearance (DOI) and proof of U.S. Citizenship is required
- Travel <10% (some occasional on-site visits required)
