About the role

  • This is a remote position performing highly advanced (senior-level) mainframe z/OS systems administration in support of agency mainframe applications and infrastructure
  • Coordinate day-to-day system administration functions such as mainframe configuration, break/fix system support, and base user account creation/support
  • Perform routine system administration including security administration support, performance monitoring, security monitoring, and system maintenance
  • Support data entry and control work processes and oversee mainframe operations in the State’s Consolidated Data Center Services (DCS)
  • Work with Network Administration, Customer Support and Applications Development & Support teams to provide day-to-day mainframe operations support
  • Provide primary support as the subject matter expert for z/OS operating systems and system components and provide direct technical support for planning, implementation and testing of releases, upgrades, or changes
  • Provide end user support for assigned ISV products such as BlueZone and provide administration and end user support for SCLM
  • Provide input and recommendations for hardware capacity planning, system-wide performance tuning, system parameters and system libraries management
  • Provide support for Integration-testing new products with existing applications and user procedures
  • Diagnose platform, software and related product issues and perform root cause analysis
  • Assist with maintaining and providing technical support for Mainframe Production Control and Support Jobs and monthly Mainframe Job Scheduler
  • Apply expert knowledge to support Legacy Systems and the Mainframe Transformation Team

Requirements

  • 5 years Required Experience with z/OS Systems Programming
  • 5 years Required Experience with JES2, z/OS Unix System Services (OMVS), Storage Management Subsystem (SMS)
  • 3 years Required Experience with TSS (Top Secret Security)
  • 3 years Required Experience with performance monitoring to include initial analysis of performance issues
  • 2 years Required Experience with REXX
  • 3 years Preferred Experience with Informatica Power Exchange Administration for Change Data Capture processing using mainframe data sources and targets (IMS, VSAM)
  • 3 years Preferred Working knowledge of z/OS Operation
  • 3 years Preferred Working knowledge of z/OS Networking – VTAM (Virtual Telecommunications Access Method), TCP/IP
  • 3 years Preferred Working knowledge of z/OS-centric automated job scheduling and management software (JOBTRAC)
  • 3 years Preferred Working knowledge of Terminal Emulator Software (BLUEZONE)
  • 3 years Preferred Working knowledge of VTAM Session Manager Software (VTAM/SWITCH)
  • 3 years Preferred Working knowledge of SMP/E (System Modification Program/Extended)
