About the role

  • Leadership role in promoting Nucor’s mission ensuring that safety is instilled as a value with a strong focus on quality and environmental stewardship.
  • Member of the Nucor Steel leadership team responsible for successfully leading long term profitable contributions to Nucor
  • Responsible for the division’s environmental strategy with a focus on building relationships with operations/maintenance/administrative departments and continuous cost reduction.
  • Support Nucor’s strategy in growing enterprise sustainability initiatives
  • Solid understanding of environmental compliance, permitting and serve as a liaison for State and Federal environmental agencies
  • Oversees periodic review and revision of environmental management systems, standards, and procedures
  • Operational oversight of pollution control equipment (i.e. scrubbers, baghouses, etc.), wastewater treatment plants, and water systems
  • Advises leadership team on Environmental objectives, targets, and metrics
  • Support Political and Community Outreach

Requirements

  • This individual must be pursuing a career path toward environmental management and be willing to relocate for future advancement positions within Nucor.
  • Previous steelmaking or heavy industry environmental compliance experience including permitting.
  • ISO 14001 or environmental management system experience
  • 4-year degree in engineering or related environmental, safety or health field.
  • Registered environmental credentials and/or professional engineering license.
  • Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
