About the role

  • Entering financial data into accounting software, such as invoices, receipts, and payments.
  • Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, and expenses.
  • Processing invoices, ensuring accurate payments, and managing accounts payable.
  • Enter timesheets on a weekly basis.
  • Maintaining capital asset, capital lease, prepaid, and accrued liabilities schedules.
  • Reconciling bank statements with the general ledger, ensuring accurate balances.
  • Identifying and resolving any discrepancies between bank statements and the general ledger.
  • Assist in preparing and filing sales tax returns.
  • Assisting with audit preparation and providing documentation to auditors.
  • Responding to audit queries and providing necessary information.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Through financial and business analysis drive better, faster decisions, EBITDA improvement, and increased customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support finance-related initiatives and projects.
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the finance department.
  • Supporting monthly and yearly inventory counts.
  • General accounting duties.
  • Other ad-hoc analysis and office administration as required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Highschool diploma, post secondary education in Accounting/Bookkeeping preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
  • Experience with full cycle accounting
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas) and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and meet deadlines
  • Ability to analyze business process and maintain internal controls
  • Ability to work independently
  • Team player
  • Strong attention to detail
