About the role
- Entering financial data into accounting software, such as invoices, receipts, and payments.
- Perform month-end and year-end close procedures, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, and expenses.
- Processing invoices, ensuring accurate payments, and managing accounts payable.
- Enter timesheets on a weekly basis.
- Maintaining capital asset, capital lease, prepaid, and accrued liabilities schedules.
- Reconciling bank statements with the general ledger, ensuring accurate balances.
- Identifying and resolving any discrepancies between bank statements and the general ledger.
- Assist in preparing and filing sales tax returns.
- Assisting with audit preparation and providing documentation to auditors.
- Responding to audit queries and providing necessary information.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
- Through financial and business analysis drive better, faster decisions, EBITDA improvement, and increased customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support finance-related initiatives and projects.
- Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the finance department.
- Supporting monthly and yearly inventory counts.
- General accounting duties.
- Other ad-hoc analysis and office administration as required.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Highschool diploma, post secondary education in Accounting/Bookkeeping preferred
- Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
- Experience with full cycle accounting
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas) and PowerPoint
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and meet deadlines
- Ability to analyze business process and maintain internal controls
- Ability to work independently
- Team player
