About the role
- Architect custom solutions to bridge the gap between COTS software packages and internal applications
- Define requirements, author code, test and deploy custom solutions to factory automation systems
- Analyze needs and requirements of existing and proposed systems, and develops technical, structural, and organizational specifications
- Work with suppliers to implement application suggestions and demonstrate early success with minimum viable product proofing
- Perform root cause analysis for application failures and implement solutions
- Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal and external customers, in written and verbal format
- Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions
- Collaborate with physicists, design engineers, and superconducting foundry engineers to develop high-performance computing systems
- Provide technical leadership in developing manufacturing data visualization and factory automation for microelectronics production
- Onsite full-time work at Linthicum, MD or Annapolis Junction, MD; limited travel (~10%)
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience (Principal level)
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of experience, a Master's degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of experience, or a PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years of experience (Sr. Principal level)
- Able to drive execution of Statement of Work (SOW) components with vendors and work cross organization
- Demonstrated understanding of software programming, concepts of Software Engineering or Systems Engineering specifically software integration
- Demonstrated understanding of network architecture and concepts
- Experience in modern programing languages (Python, SQL, R, etc.)
- Experience with supplier engagement and facilitation of supplier development and risk reduction activities
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels
- Limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required (Travel: Yes, 10% of the Time)
- This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance per business requirements (CLEARANCE TYPE: Polygraph)
- Preferred: Active security clearance
- Preferred: A bachelor’s or master’s degree or higher in computer science, software engineering or related major with 10+ years of relevant experience
- Preferred: Experience in high volume automated manufacturing microelectronics or semiconductor fabs
- Preferred: Experience working with SECS/GEM protocol and other SEMI standards utilized in factory automation
- Preferred: Experience with Request for Proposal (RFP) input specifically as it relates to Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) requirements
- Preferred: Highly skilled in modern programing languages (Python, SQL, R, etc.)
- Preferred: Understands the differences in data representation between products, plans, recipes, and varying levels of manufacturing containers (lots, wafers, die, etc.)
- Preferred: Has worked with Applied Materials SmartFactory Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) solution
