About the role

  • Own and manage the full P&L for the claims department, including revenue optimization and cost management
  • Design claims workflows and automation in partnership with Product and implement cutting-edge claims technology
  • Establish and achieve key performance metrics (settlement speed, customer satisfaction, loss ratios, expense ratios)
  • Build and scale the claims organization and develop vendor partnerships for adjusters and repair networks
  • Drive intricate and time-critical projects from strategy to real-world impact
  • Set and achieve aggressive targets for both growth and profitability metrics
  • Synthesize data to identify KPIs and trends that translate into actionable insights
  • Implement advanced analytics and modeling (bottoms-up operating models, pricing, unit economics)
  • Drive market research and competitive assessments
  • Help diligence, negotiate, and implement transactions (vendors, partners, M&A)
  • Create processes that deliver exceptional customer experiences while optimizing profitability
  • Effectively collaborate and communicate results and insights with executive team and board

Requirements

  • 12+ years of relevant work experience with at least 5+ years of P&L management experience
  • Proven track record of managing both revenue growth and cost optimization to drive profitability
  • Experience as a General Manager, VP/Director with P&L ownership, or founder at high-growth startups
  • Demonstrated success building and scaling business units from 0-1
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, and unit economics
  • Experience implementing strategic and operational initiatives that drive measurable business impact
  • Experience developing intricate financial models and using presentations to facilitate communication with senior stakeholders and board members
  • Excellent communication skills to formulate and articulate contractual, technical, financial, and value points with partners and internal teams
  • Successfully able to work in high-growth & dynamic start-up environments
  • Prior experience in insurance, fintech, or regulated industries is a plus
  • MBA and/or Founder experience is a plus
  • Ability to work out of our SF office 3+ days/week
