General Counsel

• Founding the Office: collaborate with legal and claims to establish and operationalize the new Texas staff counsel office, including developing processes, selecting and implementing technology, and aligning office objectives with the broader company strategy.
• Independent Caseload Management: Handle all phases of litigation for assigned cases, from initial investigation to trial and post-trial activities.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process automation, workflow enhancements and efficient digital case management consistent with Next’s digital-first approach.

Staff Counsel

Insurance

• Extensive policy document and legal contract interpretation
• Ability to analyze and identify coverage and related coverage issues
• Leverage a working knowledge of insurance contracts, Unfair Claims Settlement Practices, insurance codes, civil codes, vehicle codes, arbitration rules and regulations, tort law, claims best practices handling and management as part of your ongoing adjudication of claims
• Manage, investigate, and resolve claims within prescribed authority levels
• Recommend ultimate resolution on assigned cases in excess of authority to claims management
• Rely on a deep background of litigation handling experience in both General Liability and Casualty files to resolve claims
• Consistently drive litigation, attend mediations, trials, and other alternative dispute resolution avenues
• Communicate with policyholders, witnesses, and claimants in order to gather information regarding claims, refer tasks to auxiliary resources as necessary, and advise as to the proper course of action
• Preemptively communicate and respond to various written (email, SMS, fax, mail) and telephone inquiries, including status reports
• Present file materials for authority and roundtables
• Work with nurses, doctors, and attorneys on file reviews
• Comply with all statutory and regulatory requirements of all applicable jurisdiction
• Meet detailed quality assurance standards and meet set goals for performance

Claims Specialist

Accountant

• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes for workers' compensation premium and losses.
• Prepare and analyze journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements related to insurance accounts, including control documentation.
• Utilize Tableau to create premium and loss bordereaux for reinsurance partners
• Work collaboratively with the claims and actuarial teams to ensure accurate loss data.
• Reconcile premium receipts with Stripe/Braintree and loss activity with third-party administrator (Sedgwick).
• Provide detailed analysis of variances and trends in premium and loss accounts.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting for insurance-related expenses.
• Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations for insurance accounts.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within the insurance accounting function.
• Willingness to learn and assist with other insurance accounting areas, such as premiums and losses related to property and general liability as needed.

Senior Accountant

Program Manager

• Own program design, execution, and evolution for Loss Control (GL, PL) and APS (WC), expanding from our current state to all required jurisdictions and lines of business.
• Own reporting deliverables to State Insurance Departments, ensuring quality and timeliness.
• Partner with Legal and Product teams to ensure we meet state-mandated APS/Loss Control requirements across all states.
• Evaluate current vendors, explore alternatives, and implement a more cost-effective, productive vendor strategy. Leverage vendor findings to provide meaningful safety recommendations and improve loss ratios.
• Build scalable internal resources and educational materials for insureds, enabling lower-cost interventions for lower-risk accounts.
• Redefine criteria for when APS/Loss Control services are offered using policy data, claims insights, and industry benchmarks to maximize spend-to-impact efficiency.
• Partner with internal stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Servicing, Legal) to operationalize program enhancements and reporting.

Loss Control Program Manager

Operations

• Effectively manage multiple departmental relationships across a highly matrixed organization within a large, international insurance group.
• Create and monitor Claim’s Budget in partnership with finance.
• Partner with critical team members and cross-functional business partners (Product, Engineering, Information Systems) as the primary driver of technology adoption and improvement within the claims organization.
• Work with internal team members and cross-functional partners in our Data Science group to source data delivery to the Claim’s Org for a variety of use cases and lead Claim’s content creation for key stakeholders.
• Manage vendor portfolio for third-party vendors spanning everything from FNOL to engineering services. Build effective relationships, drive exceptional outcomes, and deliver against cost goals in this space.
• Work closely with internal Compliance, Legal, and Risk Management teams to enable consistent execution against everything from SOX controls to third-party audit execution on behalf of major capital providers. Enable our internal quality audit team to continue to uplevel our collective work product through effective evaluation.
• Coordinate critical Claim’s communication, both internal and external, such as Claims All Hands, technology, vendor rollouts, and overall to the balance of the NEXT enterprise.

Head of Claims Operations & Technology

Auditor

• Perform Standard WC Audits for accounts with premiums below $5,999, ensuring compliance with NCCI classification rules
• Maintain detailed audit records and update systems promptly
• Communicate audit requirements and findings clearly to clients
• Emphasize learning and growth while contributing to department goals and embodying NEXT's core values

Premium Auditor

Compliance

• Assist with monitoring and managing compliance with insurance regulations across products and business units
• Help manage responses to Departments of Insurance on consumer complaints and compliance inquiries
• Monitor adherence to compliance policies through regular reviews, testing, and data analysis
• Identify potential policy violations or compliance breaches and escalate issues to the Head of Compliance
• Maintain organized documentation of policy versions, changes, and employee acknowledgments
• Help manage various regulatory filings (e.g. DOI, Licensing, SOS, etc)
• Maintain organized records and contribute to knowledge management to preserve compliance information
• Support process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing compliance efficiency and effectiveness
