About the role
- Oversee raw material testing, in-process quality checks, and finished product release
- Manage FDA, third-party, and customer audits; conduct supplier audits and qualify suppliers
- Lead investigations into non-conformances and customer complaints; drive root cause analysis and CAPA
- Collaborate with R&D to validate new formulations and support product launches with Operations and Marketing
- Manage stability studies, shelf-life validation, and environmental contaminants monitoring program
- Define and track quality KPIs; apply Lean/Six Sigma principles to improve processes
- Manage and mentor a Quality Specialist; foster a strong quality culture across the organization
- Coordinate third-party certifications and regulatory reviews
- Support Customer Experience with technical input for complaint resolution
- Align with Supply Chain on storage and distribution practices
Requirements
- Experienced in food, supplements, nutraceuticals, or related fields (2–4 years in QA/QC)
- bachelor’s in a relevant scientific discipline
- adept at managing quality for contract manufacturers or external partners
- Skilled in current regulations (FDA cGMP 21 CFR 111/117, DSHEA, labeling)
- familiar with key testing methods (HPLC, ICP-MS, etc.)
- Comfortable leading investigations and supplier qualifications
- Process-oriented with Lean/Six Sigma, HACCP, SQF, or ISO experience a plus
- Tech-savvy, with ERP/MES (SAP, LIMS, or similar) exposure
- Proven relationship builder, effective communicator, and able to influence externally
- Ability to mentor and supervise one Quality Specialist
- Must bring own device (PC or MAC with at least 16GB RAM) and broadband internet
