Report to the Intermountain Region Program Manager and support private forest landowner and community engagement for fire risk reduction across southwest Idaho.
Support private lands stewardship programs, place-based project development, and landscape-scale cross-boundary wildfire resilience efforts.
Engage and support non-industrial private forest landowners in accessing cost share assistance programs, specifically NRCS RCPP and EQIP-related programs.
Organize, implement, and attend local community events such as site visits, demonstrations, field trips, and town halls to promote program offerings and the All-Lands Partnership.
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, nonprofit organizations, agency partners, and private landowners to implement logging, non-commercial thinning, and fuels management projects.
Maintain, track, and submit records for private landowner stewardship programs and outcome-tracking.
Support reporting associated with federal, state, local, and philanthropic grants.
Maintain knowledge of current trends, policy interventions, and innovations in wildfire risk reduction.
Provide support to NFF Boise and Payette Program Coordinators for project layout, implementation, and oversight of forest treatments on National Forest lands.
Requirements
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience with proven results in project management, conservation programs, and partnership development.
Strong knowledge of and experience in forest management practices, policies, procedures, and regulations.
Preferably with experience in the state of Idaho forest management rules and regulations.
Experience working with private landowners in stewardship/assistance programs.
Experience and/or familiarity with the Natural Resource Conservation Service’s Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), preferably with experience as or working with a technical service provider (TSP).
Knowledge of forest management related to wildfire risk reduction strategies and issues.
Experience working effectively in collaborative efforts with individuals or groups with varying views of resource management.
Familiarity with ArcGIS online and basic cartography and map design.
Bachelor’s degree in natural resources conservation or related field (or equivalent experience) preferred though not required.
Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Ability and willingness to travel regularly, work in outdoor conditions and maintain a flexible work schedule, including participation in some weekend and evening events.
A valid U.S. Driver’s License and clean driving record.
Excellent communication skills through oral and written mediums.
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to effectively plan and problem solve.
