About the role
- Develop detailed fire sprinkler system designs and layout drawings using HydraCAD Software
- Perform hydraulic calculations and material take-offs in accordance with NFPA standards and local codes.
- Review architectural, structural, and mechanical plans to ensure proper system coordination.
- Prepare submittals, fabrication drawings, and as-built documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and field supervisors to ensure design intent and code compliance are achieved.
- Mentor junior designers and provide technical guidance as needed.
- Stay current with updates to fire protection codes and standards (NFPA, IBC, IFC, etc.).
- Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction).
Requirements
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in fire sprinkler or fire protection design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, HydraCAD, Navisworks, and/or Revit.
- In-depth knowledge of NFPA, FM Global, and other related standards.
- NICET Level III or IV in Water-Based Systems Layout (preferred).
- Strong understanding of building and fire codes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple design projects.
