About the role
- Lead and support the release management team overseeing Firefox releases on Desktop, Android, and iOS
- Drive the full release lifecycle from planning and pre-release validation to post-release analysis
- Collaborate with product, engineering, QA, security, and release engineering to ensure timely, stable, and secure releases
- Define and execute pre-release validation strategies with comprehensive test coverage, in-depth risk analysis, and proactive issue management
- Design and improve metrics, dashboards, and tools to inform decisions, measure quality, and track release health
- Develop and implement processes to optimize release cadence and support phased rollout strategies
- Drive automation and operational excellence to scale release activities across platforms
- Coordinate across time zones and stakeholders, including volunteers and community contributors
- Empower teams and leadership with data-driven insights and automation
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience managing a team and directly overseeing software release processes in a software development organization
- Demonstrated success shipping cross-platform products, ideally across mobile (Android & iOS) and desktop client environments
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with metrics, telemetry, and data platforms (e.g., SQL, Looker, Redash, Tableau, custom dashboards, ETL)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, release tooling, version control systems, and issue tracking systems (Bugzilla, Jira, GitHub)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, especially in remote and asynchronous settings
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and build alignment across diverse technical teams
- Familiarity with Apple App Store / Google Play release processes, and staged rollout best practices
- Familiarity with desktop distribution platforms (Windows store, Flatpak/Snap, deb/RPM repositories, etc)
- Experience in mobile release automation and experimentation frameworks (e.g., A/B testing)
- Background in open source development or community collaboration
- Knowledge of software quality practices, security, performance, and privacy considerations
