Medical Assistant

Billing Specialist

• Review unbilled claims and bills to ensure timely billing and claim resolution
• Process accounts to minimize billing time and maximize cash flow
• Edit claims in the HIS system
• Process paper and electronic claims for third-party carriers
• Follow up on aged accounts
• Review trial balance reports and processed late charges
• Monitor the host system and biller scrubber to resolve unbilled accounts and billing delays
• Research and initiate refunds to patients or insurance carriers
• Send inquiries to patients regarding inaccurate or incomplete information
• Complete charge adjustments, allowances, account recoding, re-billing, and late-charge rebilling
• Process third-party account rejections
• Review correspondence and online billing edits, entering corrections into HIS
• Assist with telephone calls and perform other related duties

Billing Representative

Physician

• Provide professional services to the Hospital’s patient population.
• Assurance of continuity of care for those patients assigned to Physician.
• Work with the Hospital’s administrators as required.
• Assist with recruitment and evaluation of staff.
• Participate in community benefit programs and committees.
• Participate in after hours and on-call coverage as needed.
• Provide and perform additional services as requested by the Hospital.

• Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
• First Assist on surgical procedures. First and second assist on total hips and knees.
• Conducts physical exams, assesses health status, orders and interprets tests, prescribes medications, and treat illnesses including giving injections and suturing wounds.
• Consults with physicians as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PA’s scope of work.
• Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care.
• Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies including use of CPR.
• Counsels patient/family on preventative health care.
• Documents patient information and care in medical record, in confidential manner, and may maintain departmental statistical database for research purposes.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medical model and roles of physicians and physician assistants. Familiar with anatomy, pharmacology, pathophysiology, clinical medicine and physical diagnosis.
• Demonstrates skill in gathering and analyzing physiological, socioeconomic, and emotional patient data.

Financial Planning and Analysis

• Assist in the preparation of the annual operating and capital budget requests and maintain the appropriate supporting documentation.
• Proactively prepare data for all finance functions, including monthly financial and statistical reports, position control, staffing, utilization, capacity planning, budget variance analyses and presents findings to leadership.
• Manage departmental financial operations, including monthly reviews and analyzing variances.
• Assist with the development and preparation of profit and loss analyses.
• Responsible for analytics and makes recommendations based on outcomes and trends.
