About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform clinical and office duties under the direct supervision of a Physician/Provider/Nurse
Check schedules, organize patient flow, accompany patients, assist with transfers and dressing, collect specimens, prepare patients for exams, obtain histories, perform screenings, assist with procedures, chart, and answer calls
Send and receive patient records and documents
Schedule surgical procedures and tests
Obtain pre-certification for healthcare services
Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics
Manage and update patient charts
Maintain examination-room cleanliness, supplies, logs, and required checks
Clean exam/procedure rooms and maintain infection-control protocols
Assist providers with EPM and EHR management, including queuing laboratory and radiology orders
Respect and promote patient rights, respond to emergencies, and communicate patient or staff concerns to the supervisor
Obtain vital signs, prepare for physical examinations, assist with procedures, and handle laboratory specimens
Participate in daily huddles and scheduled practice-team meetings
Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) required
Basic medical terminology required
Electronic Scheduling experience required
Electronic Medical Record experience required
Minimum two years of recent experience working in a medical facility as a Patient Care Assistant required
BLS certification through the American Heart Association required for Patient Care Assistants hired on or after July 15, 2018, upon hire or during Hospital Orientation
Excellent customer service skills
Team-player ability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to multitask
Ability to retain composure under stress
Flexibility and ability to adapt to changes in routine
Ability to assess the immediacy of emergency situations
