About the role
- Recommend, develop, and implement programs that maintain safe working conditions and promote the protection of our employees against accidents, illnesses, and injuries.
- Maintain compliance with Federal and State, and governmental regulations by identifying and analyzing problems, finalizing suggestions and recommendations for improvements, performing audits to ensure our compliance, and oversees worker’s compensation issues.
- Promoting and driving continuous improvement of systems that result in the reduction of accidents and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Guide management and employees alike on ergonomic, and safety-related opportunities by providing support and technical assistance and expertise.
- Provide strategic direction on EHS improvements by analyzing and addressing root causes while reducing liability and cost.
- Reduce the number and severity rate of incidents.
- Drive change in our current culture to be preventive vs. reactive
- Maintain compliance on key EHS related initiatives, reporting requirements and auditing.
- Lead and facilitate a fully engaged and effective Employee EHS Committee.
- Conduct inspection audits to ensure that state and federal requirements are met and maintained.
- Establish training programs for all levels of operation – New Hire Orientation, Forklift, First Aid/CPR, AED and Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP), Fall Protection, Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), Emergency Planning and more.
- Ensure compliance with our required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Oversee management of claims for workers’ compensation and return to work programs.
- Lead investigations for incidents, accidents and near misses and ensure solutions are created and communicated.
- You will be on the plant floor for 70% of your time.
- 30% of your time will be in the office but of that 30% will be data entry as well as generating reports.
Requirements
- You must have a proven track record in effectively managing the EHS function in a busy, 600+ employee population manufacturing facility.
- Bi-lingual Spanish highly preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
- Five years leading a comprehensive EHS program.
- Knowledge of all Federal, State, Local regulations and industry requirements.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills as you will work one-on-one with all levels of the organization.
- Self-Start with Root Cause Analysis skills.
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Prior experience with training to small and large groups.
- Prior experience leading without Authority.
