About the role
- Oversight and management of the end-to-end revenue recognition process in compliance with ASC 606 for primarily, but not limited to, SaaS (subscription and professional services) and direct mail (campaign services, printing, postage) revenue streams;
- Management of month-end and quarter-end close activities related to tracking revenue, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and deferred revenue calculations to maintain accuracy in financial reporting;
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to improve upstream contract structure, billing processes, and data flow;
- Serve as a key point of contact to business partners addressing questions and issues with regard to client revenue recognition, billing and collections.
- Analysis and interpretation of customer contracts and agreements to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment, ensuring economic activity is appropriately reflected.
- Management and reporting of deferred revenue and unbilled receivables ensuring accuracy and transparency;
- Implementation and continuous improvement of internal controls and documentation within the revenue cycle management process to ensure data integrity, to support long-term scalability, audit readiness, and compliance;
- Identification and implementation of improvements and automations that streamline revenue processes through system and workflow enhancements;
- Support of external audits related to revenue.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA required);
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years focused on revenue accounting within a SaaS, technology company, or services-based environment;
- Direct experience managing and automating revenue processes;
- Expert knowledge of the U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and specifically ASC 606;
- Experience with large Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (Sage Intacct preferred) and/or revenue management software and strong Excel skills;
- Strong attention to detail paired with the ability to see the bigger picture;
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of work, prioritize effectively, and drive projects forward with minimal oversight.
- Clear communicator who can partner effectively across Finance and non-Finance teams;
- Experience leading projects with proven leadership and project management skills.
