About the role
- Lead the project design team, providing mentoring and technical oversight of team members
- Manage the project scope, schedule, and budget, and communicate with the client and other stakeholders
- Perform analyses on projects of all levels of complexity using hand calculations, structural analysis software, and other accepted methods
- Identify and resolve problems that arise during the course of a project
- Employ critical thinking to find creative, efficient solutions that meet the client's needs
- Review requests for engineering services to determine that adequate information is provided to complete service
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff
- Review building/bridge structures and foundations for existing and proposed uses
- Review Quality Assurance (QA) and final review on structural analysis reports
- Support Client Engagement and business development
- Keep abreast of new technical methods and development related to structural engineering
- Ensure accurate project status reporting to facilitate accurate customer and sales reporting
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 9-12 years of structural engineering design experience
- Structural Engineer in Illinois or Professional Engineer in other states
- Structural engineering design experience for low to mid-rise new construction, adaptive reuse projects, and addition/renovations
- Preference for candidates with mass timber and/or embodied carbon experience
- Knowledge of software: Revit, ETABS, Tedds, RISA, and MathCAD
- Experienced in project management and technical analysis
- Strong oral and verbal communication skills
