About the role

  • - Supporting the Executive Director and Senior Fellow in setting up a process to identify the (at first) 3-4 countries that could enter an EU energy transitions partnership,
  • - Leading on outreach to some relevant EU and national officials as well as relevant actors in partner countries,
  • - Working closely with the Executive Director, Senior Fellow and International Relations Analyst on showing how in-country platforms can bring the relevant actors (government, civil society actors, banks, private sector, etc.) together for these partnerships,
  • - Developing and overseeing the establishment of a database of existing and potential EU and national energy cooperation, supported by the International Relations Analyst. It will contribute to collect good examples of successful European cooperation and lessons learned to inform the diplomatic work of the think tank,
  • - Contributing to Strategic Perspectives’s European diplomacy publications, convenings, communications work and public events as adequate.
  • - *Any other duties to be assigned from time to time*

Requirements

  • - Relevant work experience of at least 5 years in one of the following areas: international relations, climate finance, development cooperation, international trade, energy or climate policy,
  • - Good understanding of the role the EU and its Member States play at the international level as well as multilateral processes on climate and energy;
  • - Discretion and diplomatic skills, and the ability to work with sensitive, confidential information or high level contacts;
  • - Proven ability to conduct research independently and to summarise complex processes in an appealing way, including on EU policymaking,
  • - Motivated and proactive team-player with a passion for excellence,
  • - An impeccable work ethic, an enthusiastic personality and a sense of humour;
  • - Strong time and priority management, a can-do mentality and ability to work on different topics at the same time,
  • - The disposition to work generously with colleagues in a high-trust global community of peers,
  • - A commitment to an inclusive and empowering approach to facing climate change.
