About the role
- Lead category management for electronics technology categories (semiconductors, BLE/wireless chips, modules, embedded software/firmware)
- Advocate for supply management with operating units and operational partners to support core business objectives
- Prepare and manage complex contract negotiations and execute negotiations in collaboration with business partners (SaaS, ELAs, cloud commitments, license agreements)
- Use benchmarking, financial modeling, and usage forecasting to drive favorable supplier terms
- Identify and develop business cases for year-over-year cost reduction through should costing, process improvement, tier 2 strategies, and yield improvements
- Perform market analysis and Best Cost Country sourcing; provide guidance to technical sourcing and engineering on supplier innovations
- Develop forward buy agreements and strategies to ensure supply continuity
- Manage supplier relationships, drive performance improvements in quality, delivery, and cost, and ensure governance and strategic alignment
- Lead end-to-end supplier lifecycle management including onboarding, performance optimization, and offboarding with focus on risk mitigation and value creation
- Rationalize supplier base through stratification, market analysis, supplier development, and consolidation
- Support supplier quality audits and conduct supply chain risk reviews
- Utilize metrics, tools, and business intelligence to optimize sourcing and supplier activities
- Act independently to prescribe methods and new approaches for special assignments
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, technical sourcing, and business partners
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant category management experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant category management experience
- Strong negotiation skills and experience preparing/managing complex contract negotiations
- Technical aptitude and strong relationship-building skills
- Understanding of wireless technologies, including BLE, NFC, and WiFi
- Knowledge of semiconductors, wireless chips, modules, and embedded software/firmware markets
- Working knowledge of IT concepts such as cloud infrastructure, software licensing, SaaS models, cybersecurity, and IT service agreements
- Skilled in developing category strategies, complex contract reviews and negotiations, lean manufacturing, business case development, and Best Cost Country sourcing
- Experience with product/process transfer/change requirements in a regulatory environment
- Experience using lean methodology in a manufacturing environment is a plus
- Experience in low-volume, high-mix production environments is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good organization, project management, and follow-through skills
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and act proactively
- Microsoft Excel, Analytics, and SAP experience preferred
- Ability to travel to vendor locations domestically and internationally (required)
