About the role
- Lead and oversee supplier quality assurance and management functions for Medtronic's Diabetes business
- Manage a team of Supplier Quality Managers and Supplier Quality Engineers located at Northridge, CA and Juncos, PR manufacturing sites
- Develop long term strategic relationships and alliances with key internal and external stakeholders
- Communicate and conduct briefings with senior or executive leadership regarding ongoing operations and strategic initiatives
- Drive supplier quality improvements, manage supplier audits, and develop strategic initiatives to enhance supplier performance and partnerships
- Accountable for changes to existing supplied products and processes, oversight of performance and improvement activities
- Plan, direct and implement aspects of design and development of new medical device products or software systems
- Develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards
- Oversee investigation and evaluation of existing technologies and guide conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products
- Direct development of new concepts from initial design to market release and manage feasibility studies
- Monitor documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development
- Organize coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery
- Select, develop and evaluate personnel; mentor, coach and perform performance reviews and staff 1:1s
- Prioritize strategic and department level initiatives through performance goals and targets
- Travel up to 25% as required between manufacturing and supplier sites
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum 10 years of relevant Manufacturing (internal & external) Supplier Quality Engineering experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, OR Advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant Manufacturing (internal & external) Supplier Quality Engineering experience with 7+ years of managerial experience
- 7+ years managerial experience
- Experience in Medical, Pharmaceutical or highly regulated product industry (Nice to Have)
- DMAIC Lean / Six Sigma Certification and demonstrated experience leading DMAIC Projects (Nice to Have)
- Experience in multiple Quality related functions (Nice to Have)
