About the role
- Support development and execution of Medtronic Diabetes US government affairs strategy
- Assist in developing and implementing a coherent government affairs strategy aligned with business objectives
- Manage and execute Government Affairs plans and projects in collaboration with other functions (Health Plan Solutions, Medical Affairs, etc.)
- Provide policy analysis and recommendations on government policies affecting Medtronic Diabetes
- Support creation and execution of an engagement program for senior leaders to interact with key policymakers
- Develop and maintain stakeholder maps of government officials, industry influencers, and key opinion leaders
- Anticipate and identify potential policy or regulatory issues and implement proactive mitigation strategies
- Work closely with internal teams to integrate government affairs activities into broader business strategies
- Educate and brief internal stakeholders and prepare leadership for interactions with government officials
- Regularly update internal leadership and prepare briefing materials for external engagements
- Represent Medtronic Diabetes on Government Affairs committees within industry trade associations
- Engage with political stakeholders at federal, state, and local levels to communicate company perspectives
- Build and maintain external networks with government representatives, advisors, and committee members
- Maintain and distribute expertise by attending political events, conferences, and industry-related activities
- Position Medtronic Diabetes as a key stakeholder in policy issues, emphasizing expansion of patient access to diabetes technology
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in government affairs, public policy, or a related field
- 15 years of experience in government advocacy, public affairs, or lobbying (or 13+ years with an advanced degree)
- Solid understanding of government policy, reimbursement, and regulatory processes in the US
- 10+ years of managerial experience
- Ability to work on-site at Northridge, CA office at least 3 days per week
- Collaboration / Teamwork: ability to work effectively in a matrixed organization and collaborate across functions
- Results-oriented: ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results in a timely manner
- Strategic thinking / Analytical skills: ability to analyze complex policy issues and develop strategic responses
- Business acumen: understanding of industry trends and the North American healthcare ecosystem
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence and engage stakeholders
- Integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
- May need to comply with credentialing requirements for patient-facing roles
