About the role
- Work with a team of Engineers and Technicians to develop and bring new products to the market
- Responsible for all phases of product development, including definition, design, troubleshooting, characterization, and verification of implantable neurostimulators as well as external patient programmers and rechargers
- Provide technical leadership on complex programs while working in a team of electrical engineers and technicians
- Individually contribute electrical engineering skills to design, develop, analyze, characterize, and debug new product designs, including analog, digital, and embedded products and systems
- Architect (Design, Development, and Document) HW-FW interfaces of products and systems
- Partner with design teams (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Firmware, and IC Design) to root cause design issues, create test suites, characterize, and ultimately verify electrical design
- Analyze product performance using DFSS techniques
- Design and execute test methods to characterize devices and verify adherence to standards, product, and systems requirements
- Develop test methods and interface with certified test houses to verify/certify to global regulatory standards, including IEC60601, ISO 14708-3, ISO/TS 10974, EN45502, FCC, ETSI
- Validate test environments comprising custom equipment, software, and test methods
- Understand, follow, and document per all applicable quality system policies and procedures, ensuring the highest quality of work output and compliance
- Work with others internationally, travel globally, and work under minimal supervision
- In-person exchanges are invaluable; work a minimum of 4 days a week onsite
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years experience OR PhD with 3 years experience
- BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (desired)
- Experience in the development of design input requirements, design output specifications, and DFMEAs
- Experience in the design transfer of electrical products and testing into manufacturing
- Experience in electromagnetics and radio frequency design for medical devices
- Experience designing analog and digital circuitry on custom PCBs
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium or OrCAD
- Experience with circuit simulation tools such as PSPICE, LTSPICE
- Experience in modeling and simulation in MATLAB
- Experience developing automated electrical test method scripting utilizing tools such as C/C++, Python, and LabVIEW
- Experience developing electrical bench test methods with tools such as power supplies, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, arbitrary waveform generators
- Experience validating test scripts, methods, and systems
- Experience with verification and validation of class III medical devices
- Ability to work with others internationally, travel globally, and work under minimal supervision
- Willingness to work a minimum of 4 days a week onsite
