About the role
- Design and develop state-of-the-art Special Test Equipment (STE) for power and digital, RF and mixed signal systems used in space-based applications
- Define STE architecture and perform hands-on development
- Conduct detailed circuit design for power, digital, RF, and mixed-signal subsystems (power supplies, microcontrollers, FPGAs, logic, memory, filters, amplifiers, mixers)
- Perform detailed modeling and analysis using SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, and ADS to predict behavior and performance
- Design and gather data for technical performance measures; test power supplies, digital logic, and RF circuit performance across conditions and frequencies
- Use C#, Python, LabVIEW, TestStand, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and vector signal analyzers to design automated tests for spacecraft modules, slices, and units
- Document designs, test procedures, and analysis results; track using version control systems like SVN
- Provide technical support during production and testing of space-qualified electronics; troubleshoot anomalies during integration, testing, delivery, and operation
- Make recommendations for procurement of test equipment and lead STE design reviews to ensure adherence to development processes
- Support preparation of proposals and bids for new test system projects and mentor/guide team members
- Contribute to projects including Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS), X-37B, CST-100 Starliner, and other space-based missions
