About the role

  • Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling
  • Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance
  • Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
  • May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan
  • Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality
  • Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
  • Lead efforts to design production layouts, develop sequences of operations, and adapt equipment to factory conditions
  • Oversee machinery and equipment performance, implement statistical process controls, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including shop floor staff, development engineers, quality engineers, and senior management

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum 7 years of relevant experience OR An advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering or a related field (preferred)
  • Metallurgical background with expertise in material properties and applications (nice to have)
  • Knowledge of materials such as titanium and cobalt chrome
  • Proficiency with CNC controls, including mills and lathes
  • Experience in handling and installing capital equipment
  • Strong understanding of process controls and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Hands-on experience with validation processes and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Proven ability to collect and relay feedback between manufacturing teams and development or quality teams
  • Proactive, “can-do” attitude with resilience under pressure
  • Experience working in a growing or transitioning site environment
  • Familiarity with supporting contract manufacturers or suppliers, including local visits and coordination
  • Ability to travel ~10-15%
