About the role
- Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling
- Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout
- Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance
- Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
- May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan
- Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality
- Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques
- Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
- Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
- Lead efforts to design production layouts, develop sequences of operations, and adapt equipment to factory conditions
- Oversee machinery and equipment performance, implement statistical process controls, and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including shop floor staff, development engineers, quality engineers, and senior management
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum 7 years of relevant experience OR An advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering or a related field (preferred)
- Metallurgical background with expertise in material properties and applications (nice to have)
- Knowledge of materials such as titanium and cobalt chrome
- Proficiency with CNC controls, including mills and lathes
- Experience in handling and installing capital equipment
- Strong understanding of process controls and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Hands-on experience with validation processes and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Proven ability to collect and relay feedback between manufacturing teams and development or quality teams
- Proactive, “can-do” attitude with resilience under pressure
- Experience working in a growing or transitioning site environment
- Familiarity with supporting contract manufacturers or suppliers, including local visits and coordination
- Ability to travel ~10-15%
