About the role

  • Implement interim and permanent corrective actions to resolve quality issues using 8D tool, 6 panel, etc.
  • Manage and direct statistical process control (SPC) activities
  • Execute measurement systems analysis and variable data analysis
  • Identify sources of variation and establish tolerance limits
  • Establish and monitor quality target levels for each build
  • Provide input for design and assembly concepts to reduce variation
  • Establish critical characteristics for gauging and measuring data collection methods
  • Determine inspection equipment and facility requirements
  • Support expedited concern resolution with cross-functional teams including Production and Suppliers
  • Review internal/external suppliers for critical characteristics process compatibility
  • Review incoming quality concerns, initiate containment, determine root cause, and implement corrective actions
  • Act as VO customer plants key contact; lead 8D problem-solving teams and communicate plant actions
  • Support plant SQDCME objectives: reduce Pulls, PPM, R/1000 and Contamination
  • Provide daily support of Production activities and attend AM production meetings
  • Lead Dept QOS meetings and conduct required QOS audits (PCA, Department, SPC, DCP, etc.)
  • Support external quality audits (QOS, Contamination, Heat Treat, Weld)
  • Lead process variation reduction and problem-solving (Global 8D, DMAIC, Kaizen)
  • Schedule and drive Capability and Gage R&R studies and report MQOS metrics
  • Implement new or modified PTO, Corporate, Quality Systems standards, and plant QOS best practices
  • Interface closely with Incoming Quality for supplied part issues and concerns
  • Verify compliance to ES, DCP and product testing; facilitate reaction plans and risk assessments
  • Support PTC and DCP meetings; respond to FQAs, PQAs, VO Pulls, Warranty, Road Test, and Contamination failures
  • Train production staff on quality control procedures and supervise QOSC(s) and Quality Liaison(s)
  • OBL Campaign Management

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Engineering Degree or Equivalent Experience
  • Minimum of five years of manufacturing or quality experience
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lead cross-functional groups to resolve concerns
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (presenting to leadership and engaging with 3rd party suppliers)
  • High level of analytical and statistical skills to trend quality data and take appropriate actions
  • Ability to positively influence change
  • Ability to handle complex issues and multi-task
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint; understanding of Business Objects, SharePoint, and other Ford-specific software
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
  • Preferred: Warranty, Production, and/or Manufacturing Quality experience; Black Belt or Green Belt Certification; Knowledge of Assembly and Machining Processes; experience with GSAR, Global 8D, Statistical Tools, Data Analytics and BSAQ
