About the role
- Electrical/controls support of various manufacturing areas within the North Haven, CT Manufacturing facility
- Manufacturing process improvements including OEE, assembly equipment retrofit projects and new equipment procurement
- Follow and help develop new company’s best practices and standard procedures
- Communicate technically with various internal departments to ensure equipment compliance with EHS requirements and product quality
- Provide all documentation required to support assembly equipment (operating instructions, electrical schematics, specifications, parameter settings, software backups, etc.)
- Assist in writing and execution of equipment specifications and Installation Qualification protocols and support validation activities
- Research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks
- Troubleshoot equipment with various Controls Platforms (PLC’s, CNC, PC, Vision systems and Robotics)
- Create and update Electrical component BOMs and schematics in AutoCad for legacy equipment
- Assure production requirements are achieved for equipment specifications, supplier selection, and qualification
- Support and provide equipment specifications to vendors for quoting automated and manual equipment
- Verify Equipment meets current NFPA, OSHA and all applicable safety standards
- Review equipment quotes, support design reviews and work with project teams to provide custom assembly equipment
- Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, Machine Risk Assessments, and CTQ processes
- Communicate and coordinate activities with multiple functional groups both within and outside of operations
- Provide technical support to maintenance as required
- Address related manufacturing issues on a daily basis as needed
- 10% travel to manufacturing sites and supplier visits required (domestic)
Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor's degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 2 years of experience
- BS Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics (Nice to Have)
- Experience with Mitsubishi, Rockwell PLC’s /Safety PLC’s (SLC/CompactLogix and ControlLogix Platforms) and supporting development software (Nice to Have)
- Experience in 6 axis joint and SCARA robotics and associated development software (Nice to Have)
- Experience with vision systems (Cognex/Adept preferred) (Nice to Have)
- Experience with servo and stepper motion control amplifiers controllers and position feedback devices (Nice to Have)
- Experience with machine risk assessment methodology and required electrical safety circuitry (Nice to Have)
- Knowledge of Linear brushless motors/controllers and AC Inverters (Nice to Have)
- Knowledge of data acquisition, IoT trends in manufacturing and manufacturing networking architecture (Nice to Have)
- Solid experience in trouble shooting equipment using conventional diagnostic tools and PLC software
- Solid presentation and computer skills (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Projects/AutoCAD, etc.)
- 10% travel to manufacturing sites and supplier visits required (domestic)
