About the role

  • Oversee, plan, and direct all pharmacy activities including clinical services, performance improvements and regulatory compliance
  • Supervise pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy clerks to maintain efficient and profitable operations
  • Identify and implement operational efficiencies and standardization
  • Ensure pharmacy is adequately staffed and schedule staff for routine, weekend, holiday, and on-call hours
  • Provide technical and customer service training and serve as role model
  • Maintain neat and organized pharmacy to support operational efficiency
  • Provide drug information to physicians and nurses via direct contact or in-service programs
  • Prepare and maintain reports and records as required
  • Identify and implement internal controls to monitor and enforce compliance
  • Maintain patient medication records and monitor drug therapy for contraindications, interactions and allergies
  • Provide patient information and counseling; interpret and fill drug orders
  • Leverage technology and automated systems to optimize departmental efficiencies
  • Assure quality checks and balances are implemented and maintained
  • Participate in programs, committees, meetings and quality improvement initiatives; serve as pharmacy subject matter expert
  • Participate in inventory control programs including ordering, inventorying, monitoring and 340B compliance
  • Assist with strategic planning and execute departmental goals
  • Maintain inventory and records of controlled drugs as required by law
  • Ensure positive customer service and follow up on complaints
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Performance Improvement Program
  • Report allegations of impropriety to Compliance Department and comply with Ethical Business Conduct and Compliance Program
  • Complete required training and ensure departmental staff training is completed
  • Hire, train, mentor, evaluate, discipline and retain departmental staff; verify timesheets biweekly

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy
  • PharmD preferred
  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in the state of Florida
  • Three years pharmacy experience
  • Five years managerial experience preferred
  • Knowledge of relevant accreditation and certification requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting and operate in high-pressure situations
  • Ability to work in a complex team environment and collaborate with internal and external professionals
  • Demonstrated creativity and flexibility
  • Ability to establish goals, structures, and processes to implement mission and strategic vision
  • Leadership skills including providing effective feedback and developing staff
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients
  • Strategic and analytical thinking skills; problem solving and decision making
  • Skills in conflict resolution, time management, and strategic planning
  • Ability to network and interact with key groups and individuals
  • Ability to prioritize projects, conduct research and gather information
  • Verbal/written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to comply with the client’s occupational health protocols
  • Must remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists
  • Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position
