About the role

  • Managing complex corporate transactions and onboarding new‑to‑bank relationships by preparing high‑quality credit applications aligned with the Bank’s risk appetite and policies.
  • Conducting enhanced due diligence, identifying key risks and mitigants, and ensuring strong oversight and control through accurate information validation and adherence to credit, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with Originators on new‑to‑bank facilities, participating in discussions on customer requirements, facility structures, and key terms, while ensuring all information required for credit assessment is obtained in full.
  • Conduct enhanced preliminary assessments at an early stage to determine appropriate facility structure, security packages, and key terms, ensuring alignment with business strategy and the Bank’s credit risk appetite.
  • Prepare high‑quality credit proposals with comprehensive analysis of financial and operational risks, supported by detailed assessment of creditworthiness and repayment capacity.
  • Perform in‑depth credit analysis for local and multinational corporates across all sectors within CIBG and IBG jurisdictions.
  • Ensure timely submission of credit applications within approved turnaround times (TAT), in line with Mashreq’s internal service standards and business growth objectives.
  • Manage risk in accordance with the Bank’s risk appetite and credit policies, clearly highlighting policy exceptions and recommending appropriate mitigants.
  • Support KYC processes, conduct transaction screening, and perform enhanced and independent due diligence such as CBRB checks, E‑name searches, and other desktop reviews for higher‑risk relationships.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Credit Risk Management and participate in relevant discussions to support transaction approvals.
  • Take ownership of assigned departmental and bank‑wide initiatives and projects, contributing to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Adhere to Mashreq’s risk, compliance, and regulatory policies, ensuring necessary compliance approvals are obtained for higher‑risk customers or transactions.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the Bank’s credit policies, products, and offerings.
  • Review facility and security documents in coordination with Originators, liaising with Legal and other stakeholders to ensure accurate documentation and required approvals.
  • Coordinate with Operations for limit setup and ensure appropriate approvals are secured for any exceptions.
  • Support account opening processes in collaboration with Originators, Middle Office, and Compliance, ensuring smooth onboarding and full adherence to DOB system requirements.
  • Act as the Business Unit Risk Assessor (BURA), conducting quarterly Risk & Control Assessments and ensuring compliance with the Bank’s Operational Risk Management (ORM) framework.
  • Support during internal audit process, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit inquiries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting with minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Master degree in Finance or Business Administration is a plus.
  • Minimum of 12 years of Credit risk management experience with a regional or multinational bank.
  • Completion of relevant bank credit program or professional certification in risk management.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret financial data with knowledge of credit risk and financial analysis.
  • Good understanding of Central bank regulations, AML and Fraud policies.
  • Good knowledge of banking products and understanding bank operations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
