About the role

  • Lead significant aspects of the full accounting cycle for assigned subsidiaries, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements, including supporting schedules and documentation
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions in accordance with IFRS
  • Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting packages for accuracy and completeness
  • Own and manage complex balance sheet areas and related disclosures (e.g., long-term debt, foreign exchange, derivatives, and other technical areas as applicable)
  • Assess and determine appropriate accounting treatment for new transactions and business activities under IFRS
  • Support preparation of external financial statements, notes, MD&A, and management reporting
  • Assist with public filing requirements and coordination with external auditors
  • Review government tax filings and payroll reporting for accuracy and compliance
  • Ensure adherence to Martello’s accounting policies, internal controls, and statutory requirements
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Manage and maintain bi-weekly cash flow forecasting, including analysis of variances and key drivers
  • Provide guidance and oversight to more junior accounting staff, as required
  • Coordinate with external accountants and advisors, reviewing deliverables for quality and completeness
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and automation within accounting processes and systems
  • Contribute to the enhancement of financial controls, documentation, and reporting frameworks

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a complex environment
  • CPA designation completed or in progress
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS, including multi-entity consolidations and multiple functional currencies
  • Demonstrated experience with complex accounting matters, reconciliations, and disclosures
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, perform variance analysis, and communicate clear conclusions
  • Solid understanding of internal controls and audit processes; experience working with external auditors
  • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Experience mentoring or leading junior accounting staff
  • Hands-on mindset with an interest in process improvement and automation
  • Experience with NetSuite is a strong asset
